Uranius Antoninus
Usurper in Syria AD 253 - 254
Lucius Julius Aurelius Sulpicius Uranius Antoninus.
Uranius Antoninus was a Syrian native and became priest-king of Emesa, who had resisted the Persian force attacking his city in 253 and in the wake of the Persian withdrawal declared himself emperor. His claim survived until Valerian arrived in Antioch, evacuated by the Persians, sometime in 254 and suppressed Antoninus's rebellion without much effort.
