Ulpia Marciana was the sister of Trajan and mother of Matidia. She became Augusta in 105, and was the first imperial sister to bear the title. She must have died before 112 and was deified shortly thereafter. After his successful military campaign Trajan founded new colony in Moesia Inferior and named it Marcianopolis, honoring his sister.
