Septimius Basianus, renamed Marcus Aurelius Antoninus in 196 A.D. (when he was made Caesar), was born on April 6th 188 A.D. He was elevated as Augustus in198 A.D. Caracalla was murdered on April 8th 217. The name "Caracalla" came from the Latin name for a hooded cloak which the Germans were wearing at that time. In 213 A.D., Caracalla started wearing it and got his nickname.
